Do you own a website for your language school? – SCAM alert

SCAM ALERT!

Do you own a website for your language school?

There seems to be an email phishing attempt going around that seems to come from a legit domain registrar.

The latest one appears to originate from “enom” which is a real domain registrar (like godaddy.com etc).

Here’s the scam:

If you open the email, it asks you to update your contact information “as per ICNN annual request”. ICNN actually does request domain owners to update their contact information once a year, so this email will seem very real.

WARNING: Do NOT click on any link in such email, even if it looks like a legit email. The link may redirect you to a fake website that looks just like your domain registrar’s website.

If you log into that fake website using your Username and Password, then at that point they gotcha – they can STEAL your domain because they now have your real login details.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO INSTEAD: best if you just go directly to the company where you registered your domain, and log in that way. Type in their URL directly into your browser, or find the original “Welcome” email that you received when you registered your domain way back when…
